Stem Jet Refrigeration

STEAM JET REFRIGERATION

     Steam Jet Refrigeration System

Steam Jet or vacuum refrigerant is based on the principal that the boiling point of the water is lowered as the pressure is reduced.
the boiling point of the liquid changes with change in external pressure. At standard atmospheric pressure of 760 mm of Hg (at 1.03 bar) water boils at 100 dirge C
If pressure on the surface of water is 5 cm of water' , the water can be boiled at 6 dirge C. This low pressure on the surface of the water can be maintained by throttling steam through the Jet  (nozzles).
This system consists of flash chamber called as evaporator, one or mover booster ejector, condenser pump, etc,
The High pressure steam from the boiler is supplied to the nozzle and is expanded in booster ejector.
The water vapor originated from the flash chamber is move up and mixed  with high velocity steam. This high velocity jet (Kinetic energy ) is converted into static pressure and discharge in condenser.
The condenser condenses the steam and maintains a vacuum is the evaporator, which causes the water to evaporate at low temperature.
During evaporation, the water absorb the heat from the remaining water causing it to cool down.
The cooled water is sent to the refrigerated space. the condenser is sent to the boiler some fresh water is fed in the evaporator to make up the loss
